Rabbi Shalom Hammer has been inspiring and helping people for years as an educator for the Israel Defense Forces and as the founder and director of Makom Meshutaf, an organization which offers non-denominational and non-coercive Jewish educational programming throughout Israel’s Pre-Military Academies.
When his daughter Gila died from suicide, Rabbi Hammer decided to channel his grief by helping those with mental health challenges. He became a certified instructor for MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) as well as an advocate of mental health awareness and an educator regarding suicide prevention.
He is a published author of ten books and a lecturer for communities worldwide.

“In a short time you managed to inspire so many people throughout our community. Your devotion is remarkably inspiring. I have received so many compliments on your behalf. Some of your topics are so difficult to address; yet your open and warm manner makes you approachable to everyone and your impact is enormous.”
Clive Spitz, Chairman of Mizrachi Campus, Johannesburg South Africa
“Rabbi Shalom Hammer has been a keynote speaker this year at two conferences. He is a most dynamic presenter and hearing him talk encourages his listeners to want to become active partners in his mission. Shalom reaches the hearts of people. He emotes, motivates and inspires us to assist those who are struggling with mental illness.”
Nicole Broder, National Counselor for English, The English Inspectorate, Ministry of Education, Israel
“You inspired us by offering us all a feeling of belonging and a rejuvenated sense of community.”
Jeremy Saideman, Warden, Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue, London UK
"We brought Rabbi Hammer back by popular demand. Some speakers have good scholarship, but poor presentation skills. Others present well without depth. Rabbi Hammer, has a unique combination; depth, vision and the ability to captivate."
Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt, Shaarey Tzedek, Vancouver BC
“He can reach out to people of all levels of observance with thought-provoking messages. With humour and energy, he captivates the audience. I highly recommend this world-class speaker and scholar.”
